Darlla’s Quest to Find Her Happy Place

Finding her happy place

Darlla has always found her sense of peace near the ocean. The salt air, the rhythmic cycle of waves coming and going makes her feel at home.

Darlla toured the Point Arena Memorial Forest on a clear day, accompanied by her husband and friend. They loved the scenic drive up the Pacific coast.

“After burying my parents in a cemetery in a barren field, I knew that wasn’t what I wanted. Having been to the forest before with a friend, I knew this was the place for me.” – Darlla R., Point Arena Memorial Forest, California

With a little help from a friend

Darla learned about Better Place Forests from her friend Joana, who had already found her forever home in the forest.

They visited the Point Arena Memorial Forest to see Joana’s tree. Darlla learned more about how ashes become a part of the forest cycle of life, and fell in love with the peaceful, verdant forest.

“It felt like a celebration when Darlla found her tree. It was the perfect fit since she was hoping to find a tree on the Creekside Knoll near her friend’s tree.” – Alethea, Point Arena Memorial Forest Guide

Peace in having a plan

Alethea, General Manager of the Point Arena Memorial Forest, toured Darlla and her group around the forest. When Darlla knew she found her tree, she embraced it like an old friend. Alethea shared “it felt like a celebration when Darlla found her tree. It was the perfect fit since she was hoping to find a tree on the Creekside Knoll near her friend’s tree.”

“This was the easiest decision I have ever made.” – Darlla R., Point Arena Memorial Forest, California
