What is grief support?
Grief support can take different shapes to help you with the emotional side of after loss. Better Place offers a wide spectrum of resources to meet you where you are:
- Online support groups and educational webinars
- In-forest grief events and remembrance gatherings
- Self-paced online courses tailored to different types of loss
- An extensive library of articles on grief and healing
- Podcasts and conversations with grief experts
How long does grief last?
Grief is universal, but also deeply personal. It doesn’t follow a schedule or a set path—some days may feel heavy, isolating, or simply hard to navigate. There’s no timeline, and there’s no right way to move through it. Better Place offers ongoing grief support for as long as you need it, with no time limit.
What types of grief support does Better Place offer?
Better Place offers one-on-one grief support, group gatherings, educational articles, self-paced courses, and online and in-forest events—all available for as long as you need them.
Can I get grief support online?
Absolutely. We offer robust grief resources, webinars, and self-paced courses online. We’ve also partnered with What’s Your Grief?—one of the most trusted and comprehensive grief education platforms available—to bring you expert-led resources whenever you need them.
What are grief support gatherings?
Better Place offers four seasonal gatherings held in our Memorial Forests—grounded in grief theory and designed to help you acknowledge and move through loss, no matter when it occurred. Each gathering is an opportunity to remember your loved one in a safe, supported space for reflection and community.
We also partner with Mourning Collective to offer online grief conversations and webinars for those who prefer to connect from home.
Is grief support available for family members?
Yes. Ongoing grief support is included with all cremation arrangements and living memorials at Better Place—for every member of the family, for as long as you need it. We’re with you every step of the way.
When should I consider talking to a grief counselor?
Sometimes grief calls for more personalized support. When articles and group sessions aren’t enough, we can connect you with vetted grief therapists in your area who specialize in bereavement.
What is the difference between grief and bereavement?
Grief is the emotional experience of loss—the feelings of sadness, longing, and pain. Bereavement refers to the period of time following a loss during which you grieve. At Better Place we can help with both.
How can I support someone who is grieving?
The most meaningful thing you can do is show up—check in, listen without trying to fix anything, and let them know they don’t have to go through it alone. Grief can feel isolating, and simply being present matters more than having the right words.
