Better Place Forests Welcomes Jessica Wakefield as Director of Partnerships

Enhancing Local Partnerships to Expand Funeral Home Network

Better Place Forests, home to the nation’s first conservation memorial forests, is excited to announce the addition of Jessica Wakefield as the new Director of Partnerships, Community, and Education. With over 15 years of experience in the funeral service profession, Jessica will play a pivotal role in building and strengthening partnerships with local funeral homes and community organizations, focusing on Better Place Forests’ growing network of more than 100 funeral home and crematory partners near their forest locations.

“We are thrilled to have Jessica join our team,” said Adam Tibbs, CEO of Better Place Forests. “Her deep knowledge of the funeral profession, combined with her commitment to mentorship and continuing education, makes her the ideal person to lead our partnership efforts. We look forward to expanding our reach and continuing to provide families with meaningful, green memorial options.”

Jessica’s extensive background includes serving as President of the Washington State Funeral Directors Association, where she advocated for funeral professionals. A passionate leader, she has also been actively involved in developing more modern approaches to funeral services and the promotion of green alternatives within the profession.

In addition to her leadership roles, Jessica is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), a donation champion for Donate Life America, and a dedicated mentor to future funeral professionals. She holds degrees from The Evergreen State College and Lake Washington Institute of Technology, and was recognized with the 2022 LWTech Foundation Annual Distinguished Alumni Award.

Outside of her professional commitments, Jessica enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband of 21 years, Matt. They can often be found on a beach or hiking through the woods.

Better Place Forests is excited to have Jessica on board as they continue to build strong partnerships that provide families with natural alternatives to traditional end-of-life services.
